African Transfers: Top Stars on the Move This Summer

The transfer window is heating up — and some of Africa’s finest football talents are right at the heart of it.

It’s no secret that African football is in a golden era. Players from across the continent are turning heads across Europe, and this summer’s transfers are proof of just how far they’ve come. You can bet on a wide range of games featuring African players here at Premier Bet.

With several high-profile moves already confirmed, here are five standout African players who have taken a big step forward in their careers.

Mohammed Kudus, Ghana

West Ham United > Tottenham Hotspur, £55m

Kudus was one of the most sought-after players in the Premier League this summer, after his electric performances for West Ham last term. The Ghanaian winger was clearly destined for bigger things and it did not take long before a team with European football to contend snapped him up.

After winning the Europa League last term, the Spurs faithful will be hoping that Kudus can help contribute to a successful league campaign. Spurs fought off some of Europe’s top clubs for Kudus’ signature, which is a testament to the quality he possesses.

Simon Adingra, Ivory Coast

Brighton & Hove Albion > Sunderland, £21m

Sunderland have landed the signing of Adingra from Premier League counterparts Brighton for a fee in the region of £21m. This transfer is dubbed as one of the more exciting deals completed so far, due to the ability the 23-year-old has already shown on the big stage.

Adingra possesses both skill and speed, something that newly promoted sides have lacked in recent years. Therefore, Sunderland will be hoping he is the player that can bolster their chances of becoming a mainstay in the Premier League for years to come.

Habib Diarra, Senegal

Strasbourg > Sunderland, £30m

Sunderland have signed Senegalese international Diarra for a club record fee from Ligue 1 outfit Strasbourg. The exciting 21-year-old recently scored in a friendly against England, and he featured 31 times in all competitions last term which caught the eye of many.

Known for his energy, composure under pressure and ball-winning skills, these are all traits that have separated African players from the rest in the Premier League in the last decade. Players such as Yaya Toure and Michael Essien are comparable, so he is certainly one to look out for in the 2025/26 season.

Axel Tuanzebe, DR Congo

Ipswich Town > Burnley, Free transfer

Burnley have snapped up Tuanzebe after his contract expired with recently relegated Ipswich Town. Tuanzebe featured 45 times for the Tractor Boys in their 2023/24 promotion winning campaign, and a further 22 times in the top-flight last term.

The DR Congo defender joins Burnley with great credentials to his name, after playing in the Champions League previously with Manchester United. Tuanzebe will be hoping that a strong start to the season can cement his place in the African Cup of Nations which starts in December.

El Hadji Malick Diouf, Senegal

Slavia Prague > West Ham United, £19m

There was fierce competition in the race to sign Senegalese left-back Diouf this summer, but the Hammers got their man. The energetic left-back lit up the Czech league last season with 10 goal contributions and helped Slavia Prague storm to the title, winning it by 16 points.

With the style that Graham Potter likes to play, versatility is a key trait for his players. Diouf has this in abundance, due to his exceptional capabilities at both ends of the pitch. This seems like a perfect fit for the Hammers after an underwhelming finish last season.
